Frequently asked questions
If you are coming to The Elysian, we hope your sojourn with us is everything you could ever wish for in a hotel in Bali. To help you plan your trip, here are some of the things that people often ask us. If we haven’t covered what you need to know, please email and we will get straight back to you.
Is The Elysian right on the beach?
Our location is 250 metres from Seminyak Beach, which is easily accessed via a pathway beside the famous Kudeta restaurant just around the corner from us.
Can I walk to the beach?
Yes, it takes about five minutes to walk along Jalan Saridewi to the Kudeta. The lane is paved and we have ‘traffic wardens’ at each end so it is completely safe for pedestrians.
Do the villas have sunny gardens?
Lush tropical planting surrounds each villa with its private pool. Depending on the time of day, and which villa you are in, there will be sun as well as shade on your deck.
Are your pools heated?
No. The hot weather in the tropics means that the sun regulates the temperature of our pools naturally.
Are there any mosquitoes or insects?
Bali lies at the heart of the tropics, so we do get mosquitoes. To keep them under control, we fog the gardens three times a week and spray the villas every evening. Each villa has an electric mosquito repeller and we supply additional coils on request. We suggest keeping doors and windows closed in the evening.
How can I get around Bali?
The Elysian has a shuttle service for short trips around Seminyak and Petitenget. The shuttle leaves three times a day. We are also happy to transport guests outside our set times if a car is available but destinations further away will incur a small charge. Taxis are reasonably priced and metered. We also have bicycles, which are free when available.
How do I organize sightseeing tours?
Our Guest Experience staff will be happy to make recommendations and bookings for whole and half days tours as well as a variety of activities both in and outside the hotel.
Are there restaurants within walking distance?
The beginning of Seminyak’s famous “eat street” is just five minutes walk away with an incredible variety of restaurants and bars.
Are there facilities for children at the hotel?
Although each of our one-bedroom villas has two additional day beds, which will sleep young children, we feel obliged to inform all potential guests that the villa design and building architecture is not really appropriate for children. Because of this, parents must take full responsibility and supervise their children. We do not have any specific facilities for children.
Can I specify which villa I would like?
All our villas are identical and have the same facilities. They are allotted on check-in day based on availability. However, if you have a specific request, for example if you have a disability, we will do our best to accommodate you.
Can I request double or twin beds?
Of course – although these are subject to availability so please let us know when you book. Most of our rooms have king-size beds but we also have rooms with two single beds and some rooms have ‘Hollywood’ twin beds meaning one bed with two separate mattresses and separate bedding sheets.
What bathroom amenities do you have?
Each villa has a selection of L’OCCITANE bathroom products. We also supply basic essentials like toothbrushes and combs.
I will be arriving earlier than the stated check-in time. Can I still check-in?
Providing we have a villa available, we will be happy to escort you to your villa as soon as you arrive. Otherwise, you are welcome to use all our facilities while you wait.
I want to check out after the stated check-out time. Is that possible?
A late check-out can be arranged, but this will be dependant on villa availability. If we are busy, we are happy to store your bags and you have full use of our public facilities.
Will you store my luggage after I check out if I have late night flight?
We are happy to take care of guests’ luggage after check out and before departing to the airport. Guests are also welcome to use our main pool and shower to freshen up until they are ready to depart.
What should I do if I discover I left an item at the hotel?
Please contact us as soon as you realize your item is missing as that makes it easier to find. We can then advise on whether it was found and how to get the item returned to you.
What currencies do you accept?
The Elysian is able to accept most major currencies including American and Australia dollars, Euros, Pound Sterling and Yen. However, the exchange rate will be based on local bank rates in Bali rather than international exchange rates, so you will see a small difference between them.
What credit cards do you accept?
The Elysian is happy to accept all major credit cards, but due to Indonesian banking regulations you will be charged in Indonesian Rupiah, at the current exchange rate, which will affect your final bill. Your bank or credit card provider then sets the final charge.
